The bad news is about us…
Romans 3:10 (ESV) as it is written: “Non is righteous, no not one;”
Romans 3:23 (ESV) “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God”
The Bible is clear that we been born into sin. In our thoughts, words, and actions there is nothing we can do before God to make ourselves right with Him.
Romans 6:23a (ESV) “For the wages of sin is death…”
By sinning, the Bible says that we have earned death and separation from God forever. It is also clear that there is nothing we can do to earn our salvation or God’s forgiveness.
BUT…There is GOOD NEWS!
Romans 6:23b (ESV) “…but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
While there was nothing we could do, God intervened and sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to take the punishment of sin in Himself. This is a free gift that is given to everyone. Just like a gift that is given to you on your birthday, the gift of forgiveness has to be accepted.
The Good News…GETS BETTER
Romans 5:8 (ESV) “but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
Jesus Christ took the sin that was in our lives and the punishment that God deemed necessary to judge sin in Himself. Jesus Christ became sin for us, so that we could have God’s forgiveness. Three days later, Jesus came back to life to prove that sin and death had been conquered and that His claims to be God were true.
There is ONE THING You Must Do…
Ephesians 2:8-9 (ESV) “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.”
It is only through faith in the works of Jesus Christ that we can have God’s forgiveness.
Accepting God’s free gift of forgiveness is
As Easy as ABC
A. First, you have to Admit that you are a sinner before a Holy God.
B. Next, you have to Believe that Jesus Christ came to the earth as both God and man, that He lived the perfect sinless life. And that He died for your sins, was buried, and rose again on the third day.
C. Lastly, you need to Call on His name.
Romans 10:9 (ESV) “…if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”
It is our prayer, that if you haven’t accepted the forgiveness of your sins through the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ, that you would do so TODAY. If you have, then we hope you find encouragement with us as we bring you along our teaching journey.
