As I read through Luke chapter 2 I realized that without reading the other gospels I wouldn’t fully understand the Christmas story. You gain so much more understanding from them.
Specifically in verse 7 it says, “And she brought forth her firstborn Son, and wrapped Him in swaddling cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.”
As I was reading this verse I tried to remove what I knew from the other gospels-which was very difficult to do!-In doing so I realized that understanding the other points of view of the Christmas story are so important.
Matthew makes note of an angel of the Lord appearing to Joseph in a dream. You miss that in Luke. And so many more details! So I encourage you if you’ve read chapter 2 in Luke go and read through Matthew chapter 1 and 2.
You gain so much more perspective when you include the details from all the other gospels. I’m so thankful to God that He has provided His Word to us in this way.
